2017 K-League Report Cards – Suwon Bluewings

Suwon Bluewings started the 2017 season in a quite buoyant mood after collecting their first silverware in 6 years when they clinched the FA Cup the previous year in that dramatic penalty shoot-out against rivals FC Seoul…..

Suwon Bluewings

Suwon tied down the permanent signing of the prolific, if a tad self-obsessed, Johnathan and strengthened at the back with the acquisition of A-League star Matt Jurman during the close season and definitely seemed to be building on that cup triumph. It’s safe to say though that those of a ‘blue persuasion’ were looking towards domestic glory rather than overseas successes as they were drawn in a pretty tough ACL group which would see them paired with Japan’s Kawasaki Frontale, the heavyweights of Guangzhou Evergrande and Hong Kong’s Eastern FC. With high expectations from the stands it would be a pretty frustrating year for the fans as they would fall short on all fronts.

Below Bluewings fan and KLeagueUnited columnist Scott Whitelock (@ScottySSBFC) gives us his assessment of the Suwon Bluewings ‘Class of 2017’.
